airheadmyspaceair head backmyspacerobotforrobots

Saturday 3rd October 2009, 11pm

Evening all.

The next installment provides the backdrop to a showcase of the best of the best from Dissident Records. The highlight of which being the first ever live Invincible Scum performance, which rest assured, will pulsate with careless abandon. Invincible Scum will be sandwiched somewhere between label boss and much sought after DJ Andy Blake, super producer and label cornerstone Kruton, and the lush Italo sounds of Spacelex.

Floor 2 will house another much anticipated, and rare, live performance from Antoni Maovvi who will be supported by Sameheads favourites, Emil Doesn’t Drive and DSB.

Throw in a special crowd, and wow, play it again Sam.

The event will be staged in the Raum 18 – Ziegrastr.11 12057 BERLIN

S-Bahn Sonnenallee (Ring). Turn at Hotel Estrel, follow the river.

**For reduced price entry, please send a mail with your name to sameheads@hotmail.com before 18h on 03.10.09**

October 1, 2009

image001

On thursday, Octoer 1st. 2009, the 64 videos of the series Gneisenaufilms are going to be presented at Martinski Fine Arts, Gneisenaustraße 64.
For 64 weeks three young Berlin-based artists made a series of 64 64-second videos, all of which were shot on Gneisenaustraße in Kreuzberg. What started as a framework for experimental and audiovisual studies ended up as a kind of diary in which the everyday life of the street and neighbourhood is either directly shown or indirectly reflected.
The projection starts at 7 p.m., after which we would be glad to welcome you for a sip of Portuguese wine.

The films will be screened Thursday (01.10.09) & Friday (02.10.09) from 4pm to 7pm as well. We look forward to see you there!

Q&A with David Shrigley:

1. Where do you get your inspiration for your work?

From God

2.    Please describe your work in 6 words.

What I do when I’m awake.

3.    What are your first thoughts when you hear about PRINGLE of Scotland?

Scottish sweaters worn by golfers.

4.    How did the collaboration with PRINGLE occur?

Pringle wanted a Scottish artist and I am the Scottish artist they chose. I was hoping to get a free sweater so I agreed.

5.    TWIN-Set, Argyle Pattern and David Shrigley how does it fit?

It fits very comfortably. Not too tight, not too loose.

6.    What are your impressions of Scotland, the homeland of David Shrigley and Pringle of Scotland

Scotland has beautiful scenery, interesting cities and it rains a lot.

7.    What does heritage mean to you?

Heritage is society’s baggage (if you’re being cynical).

8.    What do you know about the fashion-world?

Everything I know I learned from watching Ugly Betty

9.    Why is drawing your preferred medium?

Because it’s the easiest way for me to express myself.

Pl   Please describe the work process with PRINGLE? What about the exchange of ideas?

They said “do some drawings about twin sets” and I said “What’s a twin set” and they told me and I did some drawings about twin sets.

Last but not least: Presentation tonight 18:00 – 00:00 @ Andreas Murkudis Münzstr. 21 (this is the reward for scrolling down all the way :P

For our readers from NYC Thursday, NYC: SLIDELUCK POTSHOW XIII

August 3, 2009

For all of you that are in NYC at the moment or the ones that are going there we can highly recommend this event! Cheers from Berlin.

e1244469984

First, some good news:  a few short weeks ago, Slideluck Potshow received full (501c3) non-profit status.  As well, the SLPS Network was just featured on Mashable in a piece about how arts organizations are effectively using social media.  Slideluck was also just named as one of theNewYork100 most rule-breaking, model-changing ideas to come out of the Big Apple by All Day Buffet, which was then highlighted on numerous other blogs.

And now for the celebration:  Please join us this Thursday, beginning at 6:30pm, for the thirteenth edition of Slideluck Potshow in New York.  This will be a very special multimedia slideshow and potluck dinner — we hope you are able to be a part of it!

Please bear in mind that this is a potluck dinner! Rather than asking what this event will do for you, try to think about what you can bring to the table.  We know that a Thursday potluck poses some challenges, so kindly plan ahead.  Make something the night before, pick something tasty up after work, and please bring the booze of your choice.

We will be gathering at Canoe Studios, a gorgeous new 24,000 sq ft space with a large balcony on the 14th floor of the Starret-Lehigh building — just a stone’s throw from the Hudson River.  The MAC Groupis creating a Hollywood Golden Age-style portrait studio to add a little timelessness to your evening.  We encourage you to dress the part!

Again, becoming a Member of Slideluck Potshow is highly-recommended, especially for those who want to avoid long lines.  Year-long memberships begin at $20 and all members will receive priority access as well as some great merchandise at the event.  Members will also be able to purchase men’s Slideluck t-shirts and women’s camisoles and boy shorts for half-price.  Save yourself some time bybecoming a member now.

It’s been exactly a year since the last Slideluck in New York and there’s a lot of anticipation surrounding this one.  Let’s make it the best ever.

Warm Regards,
Casey

Fashion Week for everyone! CAMPARI FASHION BAR with stylebop in Berlin Mitte

July 1, 2009

00000000MV026_CAMPARI_FASHI

Campari and Stylebop are bringing the Campari Fashion Bar to you. Between July 1st and July 16th you can enjoy a good Campari sundowner right in the city and shop exclusive fashion material!

The Campari Fashion Bar is located right at Rosa Luxemburg Straße in Berlin Mitte. A great shopping area btw!

A large glass front permits a first insight into the CAMPARI FASHION BAR and
reveals a concept that merges bar culture and shopping experience. Behind the
bar, Dr Jean-Pierre Ebert (39) owner of Berlin’s mega-hip ‘rivabar’ and his team
Sebastian Dorner (37), Markus Littmann (24) and Heike Heyse (38) will serve
classics like Negroni or Americano and inspire you with contemporary creations
such as Red Catwalk or Passion Fashion – all in perfect rivabar quality of course.
Actress Jana Pallaske is the face of the CAMPARI FASHION BAR and was
photographed with four very special ‘Berlin looks’ created by Photographer Philipp
Rathmer exclusively for CAMPARI. Needles to say that Jana will be in Berlin for
the official opening on July 3. Other celebrities on the guest list are Eva Padberg,
Sonja Kirchberger, Tyron Riketts and Jenny Elvers-Elbertzhagen.
After sponsoring the Elle Fashion Stars at the last Fashion Week, this year
CAMPARI, the iconic brand with Italian roots, has its own venue in Berlin for the
first time. “CAMPARI stands for the emotional side of life,” says Michael
Wonneberg, General Manager CAMPARI Deutschland GmbH. “Passion is at the
core of our communication and at the same time passion is one of the strongest
inspirations behind fashion. In other words, this is where we belong. What’s
more, with Mario Eilmuth’s STYLEBOP label we have managed to win one of the
most innovative and successful names in the fashion industry as our partner for
the CAMPARI FASHION BAR. Quite honestly, I can’t wait.”
