Basketball, from Vancouver Canada; an energetic three piece that combines Middle Eastern and African traditional music with live electronics, spirited vocals, and massive percussion that grows into pulsating dance beats.  From vocals in native tongues, Croatian and English, to the Persian scales, to the gypsy-esque spirit, Basketball exists amongst a history of music played on street corners and at celebrations around the world. The combination of their sound has drawn comparisons to artists such as Modeselektor, Gang Gang Dance, Panda Bear, and Konono N°1.

Berlin Fashion Attack

Ok. The week hast started! This week Berlin is hosting the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Bread and Butter Berlin as well as Premium Exhibitions. The city will be full of fashionable people, parties, fashion shows and international audience. Not that Berlin is hot in the summer anyways – it will be even hotter this week.

We will be bringing you some insides from Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and other nice things happening this week. As a special we will concentrate on shoes this year – check back to see what we mean ;)

The second special will be some tipps regarding “Fashion Week for Everyone” we will show you how you can enjoy a bit of fashion week without having to be an official invited guest!

Karaoke @ Mauerpark Sunday Crazyness in the city

When I first saw this I couldn`t believe it. What started with one guy singing songs by himself for a couple of “hours” turned into a Karaoke Show that entertains probably 600 people at once every sunday at Mauerpark – just follow the applause, the yeahhh the wooow the huuhhhh and the ahhhhh. Bring some beer or buy some beer in the mircoeconomy that has evolved around the whole place. And in case you step on stage dress warm, perform and enjoy the audiences reaction. Bearpit Karaoke is waiting for you!

48 Hour Film Project – back in Berlin for the third time

The 48 Hour Film Project comes to Berlin on the weekend of July 17th. Filmmakers from all over the Berlin area will compete to see who can make the best short film in only 48 hours. The winning film will go up against films from around the world.

BERLIN LOVES YOU is officially supporting the festival. Check it out – come to the screening form a team or volunteer as a helper/ actor. Check it out!

The 48 Hour Film Project is a wild and sleepless weekend in which you and a team make a movie—write, shoot, edit and score it—in just 48 hours. On Friday night, you get a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre, all to include in your movie. 48 hours later, the movie must be complete.

Then it will show at a local theater, usually in the next week. In 2008, some 30,000 filmmakers made films in 70 cities. This year, we’re even bigger, with filmmakers around the world taking the challenge to make a film in just 48 hours.
