We want you….to SAVE BERLIN!

Twenty years ago the citizens of East Berlin brought down the Wall that divided their city in a peaceful revolution. Since then Berlin has developed into the city we love – an island of affordable civilization for outcasts and dreamers. But the city is also in danger! Mega-malls, fake Prussian palaces and luxury lofts are threatening to turn the city into a sterile global capital. Don’t let grey bureaucrats and investors lacking imagination shape our future. DO SOMETHING!

This November – on the 20th anniversary of the collapse of the Berlin Wall - EXBERLINER’s SAVE BERLIN project aims to present the best, boldest ideas by Berliners to rejuvenate and preserve the spirit of the city they love. Buildings, urban planning, demolitions, events, festivals – all types of urban interventions. .. It will be an exhibition and a special issue of our magazine. BE PART OF IT. We need your help!

The Museum Of Capitalism

A one-night exhibition of reactions to the crash 

A one-night exhibition in a temporary art space in Kreuzberg will examine the reactions of artists, film-makers and individuals to the current financial crash.

Called The Museum Of Capitalism, the exhibition will be a mixture of gallery space, presentation sessions, and a late-night party on Saturday February 7.

“We wanted it to be a party, because until now much of the reaction to the crash has been negative. However there are many people in the world who see these financial movements as positive, as an opportunity to move the economic debate of our time beyond capitalism,” Museum coordinator Joel Alas said.

The main feature of the Museum will be a presentation by The Yes Men, a US-based political satire group who mock world financial systems through their films. Their new movie ‘The Yes Men Fix The World’ will premiere at the Berlinale Film Festival, giving them an opportunity to travel to Berlin and talk with locals about their work. They will show clips from their actions and talk with the public during a special presentation from 21.00.

The venue is Beta Haus, a deskshare/artspace building near Moritzplatz.

Local artists and individuals are being invited to contribute their own ‘exhibits’ to the Museum. Wall-based art, sculpture and video presentations are being sought. Contact Joel if you would like to take part: joel(a)beastnation.com.

Berlin Fashion Week Impression #1

 

It`s sunday – and the shows are still going on however I am ready to close this Fashion Week. There will be some more posts coming in the next few days with pictures/ videos from the shows but for now have a look at some impressions! Backstage at Becks Fashion Experience

After the Becks show – on the way to the bathroom – we had a little look into the Models area and had some green healthy soup with some of the models and of course champagne ;) Eating that soup made me not wanna be a model thinking about having to eat this all the time. The soup was nice no doubt about that but always?
