November 5, 2008Quantum Of Solace 007 James Bond Premiere Berlin
November 4, 2008Did you know that if you go to one of these movie premieres you are not allowed to bring your phone and/ or camera? Crazy isn`t it? It´s like airport security. I suppose people are scared that you might copy the whole film and put it on youtube. The asian version to just pay the guy that shows the movie and then copy its straight from there seems way easier to me!
So before you enter the movie you give away everything digital and put it in a paper bag. This ends up in quite a bit of waiting time and some confusion:
As soon as you get you “life supporting equipment” back a shuttle service (large busses) take you to the after party location. I heard someone complain that he had to see the original version – well I would have liked to instead we saw the dubbed german version. And this is how a Quantum Of Solace or in german Ein Quantum Trost After Party looks like when you enter it:
And when you are done with drinking, dancing and eating you always tend to get one of these “goody bags”. I think from now on I might start to show you whats in them. Sometimes you get special things like a nice TShirt or parfume that you can give away to friends. I am keeping the TShirt though guys!
Oh … yes … and the movie … decide yourself ;)
Laden 114 Berlin Schöneberg
November 4, 2008Schöneberg is where a huge part of the Gay Community lives in Berlin. It`s a very nice area with great shopping opportunities and nice bars and Cafe`s. Right there you will find Laden 114 in Eisenacherstr. 114 – one of the Shops carrying our Berlin Loves You Shirts. They have men`s fashion – new stuff as well as some great second hand items.
Alice in Slumberland
November 3, 2008Welcome to the wild wild west!
It`s a saturday. We are in west Berlin. Yes, there is life as well. After a stroll on the saturday market at Winterfeldplatz (close to Nollendorfplatz for example the U2 will take you there) it`s time to hit a bar called Slumberland. Slumber? Ask the Bartender with the Rasters what “slumbering” is. You will slumber there – we promise. It`s a great atmosphere with locals, young and old, children and dogs, some sand and a lot of drinks… 4 pm or as we say in Germany 16:00 is a great time to go there and start your saturday night routine. Prost! And keep on slumbering!
Autumn is here – Last stop for picnic season!
November 1, 2008
Autumn is really something to see here in Berlin…. That is, when you can actually see it. Those painfully early sunsets and dark, rainy days can be a bit of a downer to those of us who are seasonally sensitive. But on those rare clear days, when the sun graces our tree-lined cobblestone streets, Autumn has a real magic about it; the colorful foliage, the orange glow of the late afternoon, the baskets of pumpkins outside every produce market. Go put on some warm socks and your multi-seasonal Hipster Scarf (I’m assuming that if you’re reading a Berlin blog, you probably have one of these), and have a late-season picnic. Volkspark Friedrichshain, Spreebogen Park, and the stretch of “beach” (i.e. sand dumped next to the river) behind the East Side Gallery are a few particularly good spots.
