Berlin, a city of events. These days the Popkomm is going on. Then there are two Fashion Weeks, the Bienale as well es the Berlinale. So a lot of reasons for a lot of parties. Actually too many to really choose. Anyways, we chose Music Meets Media last night a quarterly event hostet by Sören Bauer. Here is what they say: “If Sören Bauer calls all the german celebrities are coming” –> and there were quite a few. There is also another event hosted by him called “Movie meets media”.
Jumping? Falling? Sitting?
Waiting to give away free drinks ; ) However this was a “secret” bar for the internal logistics.
What is there to do on a Wednesday in Berlin? Mittwochsclub – seems to be the only thing going on on wednesdays. What started out as a cool Berlin “secret” location where you needed a passowrd to get in turned into a quite popular almost tourist attraction. BUT it is a great place to go on wednesdays if you need a fun night out in the middle of the week. You do not need a password. Try to be quiet outside the club to keep the neighbours from complaining if you want that location to stick around a bit longer. We wont tell you exactly where it is but somewhere close to Kopenhagener Straße and Schönhauser Allee. Have fun!
Berlin has an unemployement rate of approximately 20%. The German “support money” is called Hartz IV. Basicly the tax payers pay for your apartment (up to 350 Euros) and you get about 300-350 Euros to live. That can make it a quite nice life in Berlin especially if you consider the cheap rent and cheap food prices here. A lot of university students live from less money this is why this add by a hairdresser is not really surprising:
You will find them in the East on Kastanienallee usually quite busy. And for just 2 Euros you can get a set of fun black and white pictures. Try posing in a different mood eachtime it flashes.
Krabat- a movie inspired by a german childrens book premiered at Sony Center yesterday. We saw the movie, did the party and found out that there were 2.000 people invited to the premiere – 1.500 came and 700 of these got to go to the After Party eventhough probably only 300 followed through. It`s a nice movie to see in the falltime with some really nice pictures.
You will find the Scala club which is in an old movie theatre on Friedrichstr. 112a corner to Oranienburgerstr. The club has two levels, is typical Berlin style has great music, great DJ`s, Live Acts and a nice crowd of mixed people. You will find the typical Mitte Style people amongst rockers, law students, secretaries and entrepreneurs as well as artists and people that are just checking it out. Always good dancing going on with fair prices. The place is run by the guys that formally ran Rio Club Berlin.
Tonight (Friday 3rd of october 2008) the Frying Dutchman a rockband with five guys will be playing at White Trash Fast Food. If you have the time go check them out should be a really cool concert! See video USOTSOKI below and/ or check out their Myspace.
We took a sunday morning. To interview people coming home from clubs. See the video and you will understand why people in Berlin sometimes get lost here. Bars DO NOT close!
